Situated on Junction 33 of the M4 motorway at Cardiff, the Wales International Business Park will offer a genuine new opportunity for blue chip organisations to establish a prestigious base. Westgate Park, in Joint Venture with Welsh Assembly Government’s Department of Enterprise, Innovation and Networks, have now submitted a Planning Application to Cardiff City Council to develop a unique style of business park designed to accommodate up to 8,000 high quality jobs for people living in the city and in the valleys as the park develops. The planned park will also include a ‘Regional Transport Hub’ designed not only to maximise the parks accessibility in a sustainable way, but also to transform travel patterns throughout Cardiff and the region as a whole. The project brief called for a landscape-led masterplan and Macfarlane Wilder was successful at winning this role with Aukett Fitzroy Robinson. The importance of the landscape determining the development strategy allowed Macfarlane Wilder to demonstrate its breadth of skills in sustainable landscape design and SUDS design.
